Site Preparation

The quality of our work is not only measured by our visible, lasting results, but also how well the property is protected from paint chips, paint and other debris throughout the project.

  • Our preparation begins with protecting any shrubbery and furniture surrounding the home. Extra care is taken with the surrounding garden, and no corrosive materials are used at any stage of the project.

  • We then begin to wash areas such as the decking, porches and siding where necessary.

  • Washing the house allows both the primer and paint to bond better with the underlying substrate - ensuring the longevity of the coatings.

Carpentry Repairs

Pairing carpentry with painting is a key element in our ability to deliver consistent and durable results.

  • Our New England climate can be demanding on various aspects of our homes; cracking, splitting and rotting wooden substrates.

  • Rectifying these issues before painting will ensure the longevity of our work, as well as helping you to avoid costly repair bills further down the line.

  • We believe that quality equipment and materials are required to produce quality work, and we source these locally whenever possible.

  • Carpentry repairs are included in our warranty.

Surface Preparation

This is the most important part of the entire project, and that’s exactly how we approach it.

  • Once our site has been prepared, we remove any flaking paint from the siding, windows and soffits.

  • Extensive sanding and scraping will allow primer to properly adhere to the siding. Window frames are caulked and smoothed to ensure optimal protection.

  • We’re Lead-Safe (IEE) accredited, which means that in the case of lead paint being present on your home, both your family and our team are protected.

  • Have a look at the reel below to see some additional examples of the various types of preparation we carry out.

Priming and Painting

After we’ve concluded the preparation process, we begin priming and painting.

  • We start by applying primer with an airless sprayer, and follow this with hand-rolling the primer to ensure the paint or stain properly penetrates the surface. This dual action approach allows for maximum protection and coverage.

  • Two coats of paint or stain are then sprayed and hand rolled into the surface using the same technique.

  • Soffits, accents, windows and other woodwork are then hand painted for a precise, fine finish.

Homeowners can now enjoy peace of mind knowing that their home has increased in value and will look great for years to come.

FAQs

How does the estimating process work?

Once we’ve received your form submission, our team will reach out to schedule a project walkthrough. Here, we’ll view the job site to get an understanding of what you’re looking for and determine what solutions will work best for you. Following the walkthrough, we’ll share a detailed Estimate that outlines all plans for project preparation and execution.

What will scheduling look like?

Upon your satisfaction with the estimate, both parties will sign a Project Proposal which clearly outlines the project scope, duration, and approximate start date. We’re always happy to accommodate your schedule to the best of our ability, and will confirm our start date as the project approaches.

What variants of paint do you use?

Quality work demands quality materials - we choose to work with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams Paints. We’re also open to working with other high-quality paints, such as Fine Paints of Europe or Farrow & Ball, upon your request.

Can you help us with choosing paint colors?

Let us know during the walkthrough, we’re more than happy to assist you in selecting the right colors for your project.

How can I compare an Estimate from Ryan Painting with other contractors?

Price isn’t the only factor to consider when comparing estimates. Project length, quality of materials, number of coats of paint, as well as carpentry repairs included are all important elements to keep in mind. Our comprehensive quoting process allows us to provide accurate estimates that prevent unforeseen price increases and guarantee project satisfaction.

How are you ensuring safety during COVID-19?

We’re taking every precaution to ensure that your family and our crew remain safe during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our standard operating procedures include regular site sanitation and a mask requirement for all crew members.
